Trump Tells PBS News That ‘Lots of Bombs Start Going Off’ if Iran Ceasefire Expires

Donald Trump told PBS News this morning that if the ceasefire with Iran expires tomorrow, “then lots of bombs start going off.”

Here are highlights from the call:

PBS News: What happens if the ceasefire expires tomorrow evening?

Trump: Then lots of bombs start going off.

PBS News: Is Iran still participating in the talks that will be held in Islamabad? Will they still be there?

Trump: I don’t know. I mean, they’re supposed to be there. We agreed to be there, although they say we didn’t. But no, it was set up. We’ll see whether or not they show up. If they’re not there, that’s fine too.

PBS News: What do you want from the negotiating team in Islamabad?

Trump: No nuclear weapons. Very simple. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Very simple.

PBS News: Kushner has a lot of business and financial interests in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia and other countries. Do you think it’s appropriate for him to be negotiating there?

Trump: Well, he was there before—a long time ago—and he’s purely negotiating to ensure they don’t have a nuclear weapon. Whether you have business interests or not, everybody knows that’s the right thing. He’s a very good negotiator.
